All About the Teacher

clematis from my garden

Welcome! My name is Bonnie Fox-McIntyre. I am blessed to be your child's teacher this year at Convent Glen Catholic School. I have been teaching for 19 years now and still enjoy learning together with your children. I have experience in both primary and junior grades. Most of my educational career has been in Grade 3. This positions me to understand the demands of provincial testing and how to alleviate student (and parent!) anxiety around these tests.

I believe children make their best progress when they have a voice in and accept responsibility for their learning. This includes everything from taking ownership of their agenda to learning to persevere when things are tough. I also believe in the power of wonder, awe, imagination, curiosity and inquiry. We shall ask many questions, search for a variety of different answers, and begin to understand that learning experiences are usually the result of refining and revising our thinking. In other words, it's okay to make mistakes and get messy!

I have enjoyed life in the Orleans community for over 25 years. My husband and I have three children (Matthew, Rebecca, and Christopher). We enjoy down time together to play board games, hike, and sing or play music together.

My favourite author is Lucy Maud Montgomery. I read and reread her books about "Anne of Green Gables" and "Emily of New Moon" many times!

I enjoy dark chocolate and fresh fruit.

I also love to garden! There is something about coaxing things to grow and nurturing them that gives me peace and happiness.

You should know that your children have all been told that if I'm asked, my age is 108! This November, I look forward to letting them know I'll be 109.

I am excited to get to know all of you this school year.

God bless,

Mrs. Mac
